Answer
My department responded to the Strategic Review of the Northern Ireland Curriculum on 9 July 2025, with the vast majority of recommendations either fully agreed or agreed in principle. In most cases, the recommendations will be implemented through the work of the Curriculum Taskforce, which will lead the design of a new curriculum framework, develop an implementation plan, and advise on appropriate evaluation mechanisms.
Two recommendations (relating to primary languages and Learning for Life and Work) will be considered in further detail by the Taskforce. A further two recommendations (concerning qualifications and accountability, and a Citizenship, Employability and Personal Development programme) fall outside the scope of the curriculum programme and will be considered as part of the broader work on qualifications.
