Answer
There are a range of individual policies and strategies impacting upon Sixth Form provision in schools, including The Entitlement Framework, Qualifications, Funding, Transport, Admissions and Area Planning.
This was acknowledged in the 14-19 Framework, ‘Developing a more strategic approach to 14-19 education and training: A Framework to transform 14-19 education and training provision’ and in ‘A Fair Start’ which recommended a dedicated Sixth Form policy that sets out a clear, strategic vision for sixth form that has the potential to help move towards a more equitable and consistent approach to 14-19 education and training with young people at the centre.
Officials are currently drafting a document for engagement with stakeholders, to propose a draft vision statement and guiding principles for Sixth Form provision and will bring forward a paper for my consideration.
