Answer
There are currently no plans to introduce cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training as part of the practical driving test.
However, the Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) and the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) in Britain are conducting an optional CPR and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) trial at the end of all car theory tests. Candidates are invited to answer five multiple choice questions, and their responses do not affect their test result.
The DVA and DVSA will review the trial data to determine whether the questions are fit for purpose before any decision is taken on their permanent introduction into the live theory test.
