To ask the Minister of Education for an update on (i) the action contained within his TransformED Delivery plan, from the 2025-2026 academic year, to introduce a system level sample check for literacy and numeracy and disseminate the assessment results to highlight strengths and challenges for the education system; and (ii) any cost incurred as a result of this action.

The First Annual Progress Report and Updated Delivery Plan (May 2026) sets out the Department’s updated position on this action.
The administration and delivery of the system level check end of Key Stage assessments in the 2025/26 financial year cost £593k and £884k is allocated in this 2026/27 financial year.
