Answer
The Department of Education received 558 pension applications relating to teachers retiring in August 2024. Pensions are in payment and lump sum payments have been made for 455 of these applicants.
A further 87 applicants have been provided with details of their option choice for retirement. When these applicants return their choices, lump sum payments will normally credit to their bank account within six working days of receipt, and they will be added to the next monthly payroll due for payment.
The remaining 16 cases being processed mainly relate to applications received after the deadline for September payments. Option choices for applications received by end July 2024 will be issued to the applicants by 31 October 2024 in line with normal teachers’ pension timescales.
