Answer
Statutory responsibility for the special educational needs (SEN) assessment and statementing process and the placement of children in special education provision rests with the Education Authority (EA).
The EA has the statutory duty to arrange the special educational provision indicated in a statement of SEN. The recommended appropriate placement for a child with a statement of SEN is based on their individually assessed needs.
