Answer
All requests for improvements to the road network, including the provision of footway schemes or upgrading works, are assessed in line with my Department’s current policies and guidance and all works are subject to prioritisation with all viable proposals competing for the finite amount of funding available.
This location was previously assessed for the potential provision of a footway and it established that Whiterock Bay would require the acquisition of residential and agricultural land, removal of hedges and mature trees and the provision of accommodation works which would be significant in terms of scale and cost. When assessed in line with my Department’s current policies and guidance, this scheme remains a low priority at this time against other competing schemes for the limited resources available.
